The Joy of Baking
Ahhh, the joy of baking. I love to bake and to share my goodies. Once October rolls around and the temperatures have eased, I’m ready to preheat the oven and get started.
Feeding people gives me so much joy.
I know I’m not the only one! Who’s with me?
These past few weeks I’ve been on a cookie recipe test team for Life on Tiny Lane, and I so looked forward to each recipe assignment. (Stay tuned for ordering info when their cookbook becomes available!)
It was such a treat to share the cookies with my parents, nephew, sister, and local adult son. Some of the cookies were suitable for shipping, and I enjoyed boxing them up in Grammy Boxes to send to the long distance children and grandchildren.
(Here are some links where I explain Grammy Boxes, if you have no idea what I’m talking about.)

“I’m falling in love with the vibrant colors as the leaves transform, I’m falling in love with the smell of spiced pumpkin cakes, pies and cookies, I’m falling in love with the cold October rain, I’m falling in love with October again and again.”

The Joy of Baking Shows
Baking shows make me happy! My favorite is the Great British Bake Off (called The Great British Baking Show in the US). Episodes of Season 10 are releasing each Friday on Netflix, and that’s reason to celebrate in my book.
My daughter had the best idea, and I’ve also implemented it. Each week we find out the theme for that week’s episode and bake something from that category. Then we brew a pot of tea and have a tea party as we watch the episode. Alas, she and her family live far away, so we can’t do this together…but it’s fun to do it together separately. This week is Bread Week. I haven’t decided what I’ll bake yet.
I hope you will embrace the joy of baking and sharing treats. However, if you do not enjoy baking, you can still spread the joy. One of my husband’s clients purchased some lovely individually boxed iced cookies from an upscale bakery and shared one with him today. He brought home the cookie to share and a Chai Latte for me, and it definitely made our day.
