Babka, Spaghetti, & Games | Blogtober
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22
Yesterday was full and fun, with time spent enjoying some of my favorite activities and people. Come along with me as we chat about…
Babka, Spaghetti, & Games, Tea Parties, Laughter, and Family Fun
A few days ago I wrote about my daughter’s idea for enjoying a tea party while watching the newest episode of Great British Baking Show, complete with a home-baked treat to correspond with that week’s theme. You can read all about it here:

This was Bread Week, and I’ve had a hankering to try my hand at Chocolate Babka ever since I first heard of it. It was such a fun bread to bake, and was loved by all six people in my family who tasted a slice.
This was the most intricate bread I’ve attempted, with a beautiful plait. It was fun! If you’d like to give it a try, here is the recipe link:

I found this recipe in the lovely cookbook my sister gave me for my birthday. Maybe you’d like a copy? Here’s the link!

If you are working with recipes from Across the Pond, you will want to procure a digital scale, because they use grams for measuring. This is actually a much more accurate way to measure.
Spaghetti with the Family
We invited my parents, adult son and wife to join us for dinner. I made a spaghetti dinner with two types of sauce. One was our traditional meat sauce, and the other was for the vegetarians. Here’s the recipe for the vegetarian sauce, Pasta Puttanesca.

I do NOT use the anchovies. I made it with anchovies once and my husband and I both despised it! However, it’s quite lovely anchovy-less.
Game Night with the Family
We are big game lovers at our house, and no family gathering would be complete without a few rousing party games. The photo in the graphic I created for this post shows my momma’s glee at winning Apples to Apples, but that was a few weeks ago. Our most recent game nights have featured the game Say Anything, which is also great fun.
Here’s a link to a previous post I wrote with many more game recommendations:

That’s a wrap for Babka, Spaghetti, & Games. I hope you enjoy some of the linked recipes, posts, and game recommendations. I’d love to hear about your family favorite recipes and games. Please comment!
Come back tomorrow for yet another post in Blogtober! Chugging away with daily posts. It’s been a great project for me. First, I’m getting into a regular writing habit. And second, I’m figuring out some of the terrifying (to me) technical aspects of behind-the-scenes blogging. Third, I’m having fun along the way, and hope you are too! Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for topics you’d like me to cover.
I would love to pray for you. Please send prayer requests to kimturnermcculley@gmail.com.
