Fall Leaf Tour Talimena Parkway
Fall Leaf Tour on the Talimena Parkway
I’ve always wanted to go drive through the Northeast during Autumn and enjoy a Fall Leaf Tour. Someday! In the meantime, hubby and I made a recent day trip to southeastern Oklahoma and spent a lovely and relaxing day enjoying God’s handiwork. Come along on a virtual tour as I share some of our photos!
The Talimena Scenic Drive traverses the Winding Stair Mountains in the Ouachita National Forest, and is located in southeastern Oklahoma and far western Arkansas. It twists and turns over a fifty-four mile stretch of highway with numerous turnouts, scenic overlooks, and picnic areas.
We had an absolutely gorgeous day for our drive. Blue skies, moderate temperatures, almost no wind. A perfect Fall Day!
Oh, the gorgeous textures! Doesn’t everything just cry out to be touched?
When we tired of driving, we stopped and ambled down a pathway and discovered…
…an old graveyard. This is one of the rustic unmarked headstones, covered in moss.
The cemetery was surrounded by a weathered fence…
…and velvety moss-covered trees. I can’t stop admiring the dappled light.
I was so enraptured by this view–so determined to get a great photo–that I had a misstep and slid partway down the mountain! Oops! I earned a couple small bruises and clothes covered in debris: a small price to pay for the shot.
Isn’t there something so restful and soul-nourishing about being out tramping around in nature? I always return home filled with contentment and determined to spend more time rambling outdoors.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Was your soul was refreshed by these photos? I think you will enjoy these lovely devotionals full of nature photos and artwork!
