Let’s Eat! July Menus
Let’s Eat! July Menus
Are you all having a wonderful summer? And by wonderful, I don’t mean expensive vacations and cramming experiences into every available moment. Wonderful summers to me are slow, meandering, sit-on-the-porch days. Days full of beach reads, connecting with friends and loved ones of all ages, rambling walks, napping while rain spatters on the windows.
Slow days.
I’m a fan of slow.
Unbusy is my chosen lifestyle.
My grandchildren worked on a summer bucket list, and I keep thinking about it. Their hopes and dreams consist of small, sweet every day joys like going to the swimming pool and having family game night, hiking and cherry picking, trips to the Farmer’s market and water balloon fights.
Sometimes I think we adults forget that the joys of life aren’t in expensive trips and fancy belongings. Life happens, memories are made in the gentle, simple rhythms of everyday living. When I slow down and cherish the simple joys, I’m living my best life.
I hear what you’re thinking: Isn’t this post supposed to be about July Menus?
Why, yes. Yes it is. My philosophy of summer meals is simple, fresh, leaning toward healthy. Eaten outdoors if possible. In community often. Enjoying the juiciness of a fresh peach, savoring the flavors and joys of summer.
Invite the neighbors over for a barbecue. Bring out a cooler of popsicles and turn on the sprinklers. Stop, breathe deeply, and look at the stars with your children. Pack the picnic.
Savor the summer. Embrace the beautiful, messy joys of this crazy life we’ve been given.
Come and dine.
