Love is More Than a Feeling
Love is more than a feeling?
Even as a child watching Disney movies, I understood.
When the princess marries the prince, that is not the end of the story.
That’s where the story begins.
We smile at the starry-eyed bride and groom; but seeing a ninety year old couple still loving one another in the nursing home…
that stops us in our tracks. We pay attention. Because we understand that it took more than starry eyes to make it that far. It took work.
We understand that…

Let’s view love from the perspective of one of my favorite Bible passages.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. […] So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13

Love is a Choice
My husband and I celebrate our thirty-eighth wedding anniversary on Valentines Day 2020. There have been too many times when I’ve chosen to act from the “Love Does NOT” column rather than the “Love Does” column, when I’ve allowed fleeting emotions to dictate my actions. However, isn’t it encouraging to know that we can choose to act in love at any moment? I find it encouraging that Love is more than a feeling, because I have the power to choose to act in love even when I’m not feeling loving.
Which “Love Is/Does” actions will you choose today? I’d love to hear from you.
