Birthday Tea Party
I may be in my fifties, but I still love to celebrate my birthday! Three years ago I decided to combine my love for hospitality, tea parties, celebrating, and cultivating friendship by hosting a birthday tea. It was so much fun that I made it a tradition.
I love to fancy up my table with my finest tablecloth, napkins, tea cups and tea pots. Choosing flowers for the centerpiece and a fun take-home gift are part of the fun for me. I do love a pretty table, and am a believer in using all my pretty things at every possible opportunity.
Tea Party Food
Planning the menu is fun. Since it is my birthday party, I usually go for pretty simple foods that don’t require a lot of prep. This year’s menu included:
- Tuna salad served in butter lettuce cups.
- Crudite Platter with hummus.
- Lemon Blueberry Scones with homemade lemon curd.
- Charcuterie board (assorted cheeses and crackers, nuts, olives, grapes.
- Fresh berries.
- Deep Dark Chocolate Cupcakes (Hershey’s Recipe here).
If cooking and baking aren’t your thing, you can easily host a lovely tea party with no cooking or baking at all.
Plum Deluxe Tea Party Photo Booth
The most recent issue of Daphne’s Diary magazine (highly recommended!) contained these fun press-out eyeglasses. We all enjoyed posing for photos with them!
Plum Deluxe Tea Review
For our party, we sampled three teas:
- Smooth Sailing Mango Black Tea
- Sweet Spot Black Tea
- Peach Bellini Herbal Tea
I provided a comment sheet to each attendee so they could note their thoughts for each tea.
If you’ve never tasted real, whole leaf, fresh tea…you are in for a treat. As I opened each resealable packet, the aromas were heavenly. Truly delightful. Each tea had its own distinct flavor.
The Smooth Sailing Mango Black Tea was the closest to a traditional tea. The aroma was outstanding, but most of us could not detect the mango, tasting only the black tea.
Sweet Spot Black Tea contains black tea, cacao nibs, apple pieces, rose hips, calendula, and vanilla and butterscotch essence. Several of us were wild about this tea, especially enjoying the chocolate and butterscotch notes. One taster commented that it “tastes like a dessert tea”. Yummy!
I was surprised by the Peach Bellini Herbal Tea. I’m not a fan of herbal teas in general, but this tea was a huge favorite! It contains Rooibos tea, apple, apricot, strawberry, mango, and pineapple pieces, orange peel, rose petals, and peach/papaya essence. The aroma is amazing. A caffeine free tea, this would especially be a lovely bedtime treat. My sister is not a tea drinker at all. However, she enjoyed this tea and thinks it would be tasty iced. I will try that sometime.
I think I’ll go brew a cup of Peach Bellini Herbal Tea right now!
In addition, Plum Deluxe also sent small samples of Uplifting Coconut Chai and Evening in the Garden Herbal Tea. We didn’t drink these at the party, but they are lovely teas.

Tea Ware I Love!
Yes…I have had a couple of tea parties with girls and granddaughters. They have been asking to have another one…so we will have to have one soon. (Hopefully before Gideon is born😊). We have served quiche, scones, fruit and assorted desserts. Adyna, Elizabeth &Rachel love Moonlight Earl Grey so we will have to have that at our next Tea Party.
I still haven’t tried that tea! It sounds inviting.
Happy Birthday wishes!! Your party looks like a real success….hope it fills you with memories for the whole year ahead! And – I love tea..so thanks for info about these teas!
