Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes
Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes | February Care Package Ideas
Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve been busy preparing the Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes to send to our long-distance grands and kids.
Valentine’s Day is such a happy, fun holiday. In fact, my husband and I were married on Valentine’s Day in 1982, so we will be celebrating our thirty-ninth wedding anniversary this year.
When our grandchildren began moving away, I determined that if I have to be a long distance Grammy, I am going to embrace it with gusto. Along with regular letters and cards, I send a monthly care package. We call these Grammy Boxes, and the kids and their parents look forward to receiving them…and I love making them.

So, you may be wondering about the best places to shop for Grammy Box gifts. My favorite places are Dollar Tree, Target Dollar Spot, and the book store. I always check Dollar Tree for stickers, notecards, greeting cards, holiday novelties, and craft kits. Target also has a great selection of stickers, flash cards, novelties, and craft kits. I found puppet-making kits and origami kits recently, and they are super cute!
Of course, you know I’m always looking to share my love of reading, to I keep my eye out for age-appropriate books whenever we’re in a bookstore. I love to tuck these into the Grammy Boxes!
Here are some suggestions to get you thinking:
- Craft kits
- Small stuffed animals
- Coloring pages downloaded from internet
- Craft supplies
- School supplies
- Cute notebooks, journals
- Puzzles

- That’s It bars
Add a Handwritten Note! | Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes
Don’t forget to personalize and connect! I created handmade Valentines for each grandchild for this box. In my mind, nothing says love like a handwritten letter. Share a funny joke, name something you love about your child, share a memory or a funny happening. Make the box personal to your relationship with your grand.
Remember Mom & Dad | Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes
I always include a handwritten note for my adult child and their spouse, and usually tuck in a treat for them. It might be a book or magazine I enjoyed and think they will like, a coffee gift card, or their favorite candy bar.
Add Some Razzle-Dazzle | Valentine’s Day Grammy Boxes
Now for some glitz and glam! I love to add some holiday-themed tissue paper and confetti and a handful of candy or something sparkly. I think a little bit of pizzazz makes the box more memorable without adding much cost.
What treats do you have planned for your children and grandchildren this Valentine’s Day? I’d love to hear all about it, because I love any excuse to celebrate. And if you need a head start on St. Patrick’s Day Grammy Boxes, I’ve written about those right here!
