STEADFAST

Too Late to Choose a Word of the Year? NEVER!
Yes, January is waning. It’s okay! Haven’t chosen a Word of the Year? Neglected to ponder your priorities and set goals? Let’s do it now!
After much consideration and prayer, I’ve selected STEADFAST as my Word of the Year. I like having a word to focus on throughout the year; it helps keep me on track toward my goals and remind me what’s important in my life.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to be easily discouraged. If I don’t see immediate results, I tend to give up. Eat right and exercise for a week? If I don’t lose weight, I want to give up. Spend hours writing something? No one comments, and I’m heartbroken. Pray fervently and don’t see an immediate answer? Give up.
Am I the only one?
In this microwave, wi-fi, click-a-button-to-purchase society, we want immediate results, don’t we?
And yet, I find that the important things in life just don’t work this way.
Steadfast

Firmly fixed in place: immovable.
Firm in belief, determination, or adherence: loyal.
Marked by firm determination or resolution; not shaken.

This is how I’ve determined to live my life. The things that are important to me: cultivating my relationship with God and loved ones, nurturing my health and wellness, stewarding my home, writing, being creative…
None of these things are a one-and-done proposition. Curating what’s important in my life is done by taking small, consistent steps regularly. I’m determined to keep on even when I fail to see immediate results. I’ve decided to make 2019 be The Year of Steadfast.
Verse of the Year
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
